Now is the time to register your .au domain name before it becomes available to the general public.
Essentially, shorter, simpler domain names will be available that end in .au rather than .com.au, .net.au, .org.au, .gov.au or .edu.au.
All Australian businesses have till 20 September 2022 to reserve their .au equivalent domain name before it becomes available to the general public.
Why is this so important to act now?
The new shorter domain name option could open your business up to fraudulent cyber activities. How? Put simply, after 20 September, if you haven’t registered your .au domain name, a cybercriminal could register your business.au or yourbusinesscom.au and use these domains to conduct fraudulent cyber activities, potentially putting your brand at risk.
Protect your business
The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) recommends that all Australian businesses with existing domain names register their .au equivalents before 20 September 2022, otherwise, risk your business name becoming available to the public on a first-come-first-served basis.
Therefore, we recommend you reserve your .au domain name by visiting https://www.auda.org.au/accredited-registrars
